Design gives the opportunity to invoke emotional responses from users. This project explored how surprise can be experienced when things don't do what you think they will.
The project explored material tactility, and how creating something with an unexpected tactility can illicit surprise emotions in users.
We tasked participants to write a list with a pen which we had crafted to look just like a standard fine-liner but was actually a silicone copy.
It was successful - an experience no users expected, one that surprised them.

This project used mould-making to produce the final outcome. We used silicone to create a squish mould of the original pen to then cast our silicone version.
